Sentry's entire product line still uses a classic chopper design.

Without a screen the shape of the inner cone will make one heck of a bird nesting area and secondly in snow country if pointed the wrong direction will catch and retain a lot of snow. To me it would seem more practical to have the inner cone flared outward to drain water and moisture away and not be a retention pool.
At a minimum there should be a weep hole in the bottom of the inner cone to keep water/moisture from pooling.
The cone curves inwards to give the projector an exponential horn profile around the center cone. This increases efficiency tremendously.

Sorry, in terms of classic, I'm referring to just Federal here. I'm pretty sure the Model 2 will stay around unchanged for a while.
You know, when I first saw the thread title I thought someone had dug up some crazy old-school patent or found an old pic of some weird prototype. Was I ever pleasantly surprised when I read that this is actually something new and upcoming!

The 508 reminds me of that monstrous "Collosus" siren made in the 50's.

It does look like an ACA design, like a P-15 or something.

I preach this once more. There is sufficient evidence [noted by Clayt Werden] Federal obtains their rotors and stators from the
exact same company that does ASC's.

Anyone else kinda disappointed that ANOTHER 8 port siren is being put onto the market? That makes the majority of the mechanical sirens being made today 8 port. 8 port doesn't sound bad at all, but it's nice to have some more variety. Oh well, it's better than having mostly 12 port sirens.

Why would we be disappointed? 8 port sirens are great.

I'm surprised that Clayt hasn't commented. He usually has pretty good insight into these things.

My guess is that this siren will have a deeper tone (I don't mean lower pitch), possibly deeper than the T-128's tone. Can't wait to hear one of these!

I completely agree, but it's kinda boring now that most of the sirens being made will be 8 port. This new siren is most likely going to replace the 2001. It would have been cool if the 508 was a 7 port siren, but it was probably economically more feasible to use the Eclipse rotor.
EDIT: Are you guys seriously smiting me simply because you don't agree with my opinion?
