Here is a postcard from around 1953 that shows the Hurt Building MD. Look at the 1st building on the right before the state capitol. It is on the roof

now THIS is odd....
There are 2 Model As mounted on a lightpost in this photo.
Maybe a secondary warning system in areas the MD's couldn't reach?

1970 shot of Downtown that has the hurt building siren in it. I circled it in black.

Well, with the help of a fellow board member, I was able to dig up some more on Atlanta's old system, and made a couple of interesting discoveries.
I found a couple more MD locations and a Tbolt location, which have been added to my map.

I also found out that there was a pole mounted MD in S. Atlanta, and that the city had a HUGE network of fallout shelters. I do not know where any are or were, though.

Not a siren, but it's still cool!
This photo was taken near the (long gone) C&S tower on New Year's Day, 1972. If you look closely on the right side, you will see a Fallout Shelter sign.

Another Fallout Shelter sign. This sign was on the AJC building. In the picture, You see the sign under a bigger sign that says "CUSTOMER LOANS"

Huh. Thats neat! The lights on inside the C&S Tower make out the numbers 7 and 2 because it's 1972! Neat pic!
This is my 400th post!

Oh, and BTW, those sirens were powered by a 25 horsepower air cooled engine.
It sucks that they are all gone now.

He was talking about Alanta's MDs, not MDs in general.
