Time for a new challenge after a long hiatus.

FSMC #3: Gary, IN

You have been hired to install a system for the city of Gary. There are already sirens everywhere else in Lake County, so it won't be too big of a task. You may ONLY use sirens that are made today, and sirens must spaced at least a mile apart. (Don't put T-135's block after block).

Challenge will close at 7:00 PM EST on Friday March 2nd.

Sometime in 2015, Gary decided to try and reactivate what was left of their CD system. The test failed miserably, and neither siren sounded to their full potential.
As such, they decided to get a new system.
They put out a bid for a system of two 115dB or greater omnidirectional mechanicals and 32 128dB or greater rotational mechanicals, spaced at least a mile apart.
Blue Valley won the bid. This is the system they came up with.

The 10v2T is NOT a City of Gary siren, that one's controlled by the plant it's installed it.

Although honestly I prefer to keep my distance from stuff such as this because of drama, etc. I decided to give it a go.

Backstory:

Federal Signal won the bid for Gary, IN. As a result, in conjunction with the city planning dept., EMA, etc., they put together an elaborate yet effective siren system. The first phase was to install Model 2 sirens in the rough vicinity of fire stations. The reason for such is that the 2s, in addition to being storm sirens, are also in service as fire sirens. The next phase of the installations was the big stuff. This included the city's sirens and the airport crash system, as well as the siren owned by CSX. The final phase was the plant sirens to the north. These phases all happened within 10 months of each other. The abandoned CD sirens were left in place as a reminder of the days gone by, although within the city, it is all too apparent as one strolls down the street and sees all the decay around one. Back on topic, yes? The system is silently tested every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 12:00, and audibly tested the last Thursday of the month at 14:30. All sirens will sound without exception, unless of course one were to break or be out of service for whatever reason.

Here's mine!

Gary wants sirens. They have been hearing great things about Sentry Sirens from their friends down in central/southern Indiana as well as Kentucky. They decide to give it a shot. Sound tests are performed in various areas of the city, and it is determined that they will need 20-22 sirens, each with an output of at least 3/4 of a mile. Kilger Communications of Carmel, an authorized dealer of Sentry Sirens, is called in for the job. They send their acoustic specialists out to Gary to conduct additional testing. The city of Gary notes that they do not need battery backup, however they do want each siren installation protected from vandalism, a rampant problem in the area. It is decided that 21 Sentry 10V2T's will be installed across Gary, each at least a mile apart. Each is put atop a 55 ft. steel pole, the controls are installed halfway up the pole, and small barbed-wire fences with gates are erected around the base of each siren. The sirens are linked to a Storm Sentry system that is located at the central fire department.

In 2018, the city decided that they needed an outdoor warning siren system. Federal Signal won the bid creating a system of 30 sirens. Half the sirens are 2001-130's, and the other half are 508's. All are scattered, so in most areas you'll hear both a 2001-130 and a 508, making one think the sirens are dual toned at the distance, even though they are not. Sirens in Gary are tested with the rest of Lake County on the 1st Saturday @ Noon for 1 minute of alert followed by 1 minute of attack. Sirens are sounded for attacks and tornado warnings.

Here is Mine. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1tGLaR ... sp=sharing

ASC Won the bid to install 19 sirens in Gary. Coverage is over-saturated and almost everyone in Gary is always in the range of at least one siren. The siren system consists of 15 I-Forces and 4 T-112s. The T-112s perform a 2 minute wail test, while the I-Forces do voice 1 minute before the test, then perform 2 minute wail as well. All T-112s are located at places where voice coverage is over-saturated, or not needed. Tested Every Wednesday at 1:00 PM

A Whelen WPS-2910 was installed at the plant on Bridge Street. It tests in Whoop every Friday at 12:30 PM
