I have a new siren location that I just remembered from the back of my head.
Darley STH-10, at Camp Durant in Carthage, NC.
35.337878, -79.553179
It goes off whenever someone goes missing, or a Flash Flood Warning, Severe Thunderstorm Warning is issued.
It also goes off on Monday every week in the summer, to give the Boy Scouts a "wake up call".
I have gone there as a boy scout, and it went off at 7 am. It is activated by a lever in the nearby building. I did the honors once for a Flash Flood Warning!
Couldn't hear for another hour.
P.S. I almost drowned and got dehydrated. Ironic!
Added, thanks! And indeed an a native Tarheel

Also, I have a new siren location. It is an Whelen 2808 in Carolina Beach, part of the Brunswick Nuclear Power Plant System.
34°02'09.0"N 77°53'34.3"W
P.S. (The food nearby is delicious, especially Britts Donuts.)

I read somewhere that Federal Signal installed the sirens for Duke. Do you think Federal Signal actually did the installations for them?

Also, not assuming anything, but does Mr Gleason know anything about NCCU's system?

Having been out of direct contact with siren maintenance around City of Raleigh for a number of years, I am like Sgt. Schultz in the old "Hogan's Heros" TV show.

"I know NOTHING! I see NOTHING!!"

Never even got close to NCCU to see what they have.

Tho I did find this article from 2015:
