Here's a very sad condition Thunderbolt 1000T behind American Legion post 29 in Marietta, GA (Cobb Siren 31). Only the chopper works on this old T-bolt. Who knows when this thing was put up...

What about this Allertor in Philomont, VA? It's probably only running at 1/3 or half speed/power. They told me it's just old, buy I know it's down on capacitors. Loudoun County has a history of sick sirens and they don't seem to know or care.

Schenectady's thunderbolt 1000 is in bad shape, even though it isn't used anymore. I'm happy to say, though, that all the sirens used here are taken care of greatly, at least from what I know.

Anything in Cobb County, GA. I can think of so many examples of poorly maintained sirens there it isn't even funny.

Somewhat of a borderline example compared to the horrific scenes of noisemaker negligence here, but this Model 5 on a water tower on the south side of Smithfield, VA has fallen apart a bit in the past year or two. It must have been struck by something, since street view from September of 2012 shows it in perfect shape.



I have no information on its status - eventually I may try for a noon blast for the sake of trying.

This siren was in place when I moved to Cobb in 1971. It was originally closer to the Legion Hall. Like #32 the blower box was mounted on platform supported by a shorter pole. The siren was moved sometime after 1989(when I moved away from Cobb) due to construction of some apartments.

I have no idea how long it had been in place before I moved to the area.

Many years ago during one of my GA trips I heard the siren on test day. I didn't realize it was test day until..while driving down Cobb Parkway..I heard this siren start. I was able to pull into a nearby parking lot and watch the horn turn as the siren blasted. At that time it still had a good sound.

Does this model 5 located at Buckhead Ridge Fire Department count? It has a few rust holes in the housing.

Looks pretty solid to me.
