I found out that some of San Francisco's ATI's Do other languages for voice as well.

The STL-10 sound puts a TON of stress on the drivers and amps. SF has already replaced a lot of drivers in those sirens.

I wonder if San Francisco will ever get better sirens than what they have now. They want the STL-10 tone and voice though.

I want to see a Whelen do this. I know the amps will be a bit mad and the drivers pushed to their limit. The Whelens in Denmark have that low pitched all-clear tone and they still work good... as far as I know. Whelens with a 405Hz alert and attack would make my day :thup:

My solution: Hire Sentry to build custom STL clones and hang large PA speakers from them for the voice announcements.

That would probably cost 3 times the amount of an ATI...

San Francisco had a large system of STL10 sirens, but other than the tower Thunderbolt, I have never seen any evidence of such a system.

I know of a few ATIs sitting on STL-10 intake cones, and one sitting on a Thunderbolt blower.

I just looked at this one on Bing Maps' Bird's Eye images, which are a little more clearer, and it looks like the object you thought was a blower is actually just a roof vent.

From the street, it looks like a Blower frame with the cover on it. It has the U clamp that holds the pipe to the frame, etc. My eyes could be playing tricks on me, too.
