Maybe micro-dB increase - which I would like.

Were they straight walls, or exponentially curved?
If you're going to do that at all, I'd at least make them exponential.

The walls were part of the stator; they were essentially the stator.

Yes.
But did they do it like that from the beginning, or was it a later revision?
