nickrusche wrote:Does anybody know if the sirens were activated for a very short period of time between January 6th and today? The reason why I am asking is; today while driving with my mom when she was running errands we drove past the Harrison Avenue T-128 and it was facing a different direction than it was after the January 6th test. After that test it was facing towards the Showcase Cinemas. Today when I passed it, it was facing in a different direction. Maybe a growl was done to blow the snow out the horn. Does anybody know anything about this?
There definetly wasn't a countywide activation since all of the sirens near me are currently in the same position from the previous test. I'm going to guess that the T-128 you are referring to may have been reported malfunctioning, and it is common to see sirens in a different position after they've been serviced.

That could be. I wasn't able to hear that siren on test day, cause I had to work.

Thanks Andy

I just got an interesting phone call. Apparently Hamilton county is experimenting with reverse 911. It was an electronic voicing and Cell # notifying of a missing teen alert. Just curious if anyone else here in Hamilton county has experienced this yet. :? At the end of the recording it said end of message Hamilton County EMA. I am going to call N.College Hill police (The area that reported) and authenticate the call.

Just called N. College Hill police department and authenticated the call. I'm not a big fan of reverse 911. So here is some proof that reverse 911 is a failure. The officer at dispatch told me that the report went out at 7:50 pm and the calls started to go out. The teen was found at 8:30pm then the call was canceled. Apparently the system is malfunctioning and the calls are still going out. The officer also told me that the call was issued to 2 area zip codes 45239 and 45251. No how is that supposed to work in a county of almost 1.5 to 2 million if it fails just 2 zip code areas. I received the call at 10:10 pm. Edit Add: I just found out that they have a Federal reverse 911 system. And it appears that it does'nt work very well.

Jason, I remember we had one of those calls on our answer machine last night, and I actually live in the 45231 zip code.

I live in 45239 and didn't receive a phone call Sunday evening (answering machine would have got it). I remember getting a call from the township police a year or two ago about a missing person.

I'm also in the 45239 zip code. That dispatch officer did say it was malfunctioning. Calls were going out for 2 hrs afterwards.

I was able to take 2 pictures today.

Thunderbolt on top of Downtown YMCA.

Two Thunderbolts at the city's maintenance yard as of now. The last time I was here, I didn't notce the 2nd one lying on its side. I wonder where that 3rd one is.
