There was a WS 1008 just as a WS 2008, right?

Found a News Story Relating to this Whelen 1000. They sound it around 1:40

That sure doesn't sound like a Whelen, at least that I have heard. Also, the control box doesn't quite look like a Whelen box either. Not that either of those really mean anything. Also, I really doubt that that thing is clear from the 50's as they say.

It is a whelen, look up St louis 3016 siren. It's got the same sound.

I see. I'm more used to Whelens having that little whoop in the wind up as they first turn on. As in, hard cut from silence instead of a real wind up. Still, I really doubt that thing is 60 years old.

Sounds like the same tone generator the 2000r used. Those were really good birdscarers.

This looks new to me. Fairly certain it is a siren, but I do not know what kind.

That looks like one of those Sterling vertical sirens with one of the shrouds missing. Thats my guess.

Not paying attention to the top cylinder or the plate, the rotor does look rather tall and just about as wide as the motor, if you look real close; maybe an Erick or Decot with a modified housing?
