I attempted to film the Diamond Oaks T-128 yesterday, but found that it has been deactivated. They are renovating the vocational building and putting on a new roof. I knew it right away when I pulled in and I did'nt have time to find another siren to film. I also was not able to get the ambient sirens due to all the construction equipment running.

Look at this garbage. This is the same system that malfunctioned here about 2 weeks ago. Looks like they have made their decision. Here's the link to the Ad on Federals site. What a bummer I think we are screwed. David Pepper Quote: I think this will literally save lives :UnQuote. Thank you Todd Portune, David Pepper, EMA and Company. The 2001 siren virus is about ready to hit Hamilton County.  . UHHGGG!!!! I'll be sending a letter to the Mayor.

Epic Failure

Fri Mar 05, 2010 5:08 am

Jpressman look at the date of the article it is Jan 2010 and the sirens were not bid till Feb. This is the Codespear system that will cost $250,000.00 per year to keep updated and maintained. The first time they used Codespear it was an epic failure. Just keep up with the letters and posts.

I honestly don't see why such a system is needed. Anytime there's even a minor emergency in this area, you just have to tune to your favorite local news station to get all the coverage you need (and then some). I realize that not everybody has a TV, but with the way the local news stations jump on anything that might give them bragging rights over the competition, it shouldn't be that difficult to get the word out to people.

So are you saying that you assumed it was deactivated while the construction is going on, or did somebody tell you it was deactivated for the time being?
Resident of a county with big a mixture of sirens, but in the process of being replaced. :(

I sat there to film it and it did not sound. Now common sense would say that they had it turned off while working 50 feet away from it. :P I was saying that I knew it the minute I saw the guys working on the roof.

If I am reading this correctly Jason, does this mean that the city is going to replace the old Thunderbolts with 2001's. I hate to see the Thunderbolts go, but if the are going to replace them, I would rather see them be replaced with T-128's or 135's.

Nick, It looks like they are leaning that way. I have written a few letters to the county commisioners about this and have gotten no response. My next letter will be to Mayor Mallory, city council, and EMA. The letters I sent were about requesting proper field testing for the companies with bids in on siren replacements. To make a long story short check out the discussion in this thread.

Federal 2001-130 ANSI testing ???????

White Oak 1000T rotator fixed

Wed Mar 10, 2010 2:16 am

After I got off work today, I drove passed the White Oak 1000T and instead of facing west, it was facing Northeast. The rotator has been fixed.
