Re: Why was the Siratone series discontinued?

So are we talking about sirens or rude posts? Someone doesn't agree with you, welcome to the internet.

The whole EOWS series was plagued from the very beginning. They were a rushed product that Federal put out to compete with Whelen in the electronic siren market. The 612, while it may look cool, is the biggest wind catcher ever. The same with the 812, 816 whatever it's called. They were discontinued around 2001-2002 due to the fact that they probably weren't selling well and were an outdated design. To give you an idea on how great the design was Highland, IL has some of the newest 612s around and one of them already has half the speaker drivers busted.
Just because you're offended, doesn't mean you're right.

How can that be Luke?? My Auntie Gertrude told me that the EOWS is the best product made and that they don't break down.. and if you argue with that than you don't like my autie Gertrude and than I can't like you cause my Autie Getrude says I am the best thing in the whole world (like the EOWS sirens). It just has to be designed better, how about if we took the Modulator, made it rotate and called it the EOWS series!!... a ROTATING Modulator would accomplish the same thing as the EOWS that my Aunt Getrude and I love so much.... God Luke you know nothing... I know things!!!

Dave, sometimes I wish I had backup accounts, because I don't feel one like was enough!

Take that, Modulator II!

Just to make sure you are aware the rotating sirens effective range diminishes off axis for the time it rotates. so unless you repeat the message/tone every direction who knows what the effectiveness is. I say put in more omni directional and get great coverage. I do know that the WPS4000/Vortex/OA are louder for the buck than the Omni directionals. 4 amplifiers versus 9 costs more. (Plus batteries 2 or 4), sorry Age 53 and counting.
Age 55.

^ That statement was the best one I've heard in the long time! Cuts straight to the point! ^
A modulator could easily be made a rotating siren. (Yes I know its easier said than done!) Instead of the sound coming out from in between each of the cells, put a set of horns on it like a Sound Master siren and have the whole enclosure rotate around the speaker drivers. It could be done, even-though it would be terribly inefficient. Just my imagination wandering once again...

Or even better, you could make somthing like an electronic RSH-10.

Now this thread has devolved into absurdity and saying things for the sake of saying things.

Oh nonsense, guys. If Federal brought back the Thunderbolt, we wouldn't need a rotating Modulator, a ModMaster hybrid or an electronic RSH-10; we could easily incorporate all the crucial design flaws into one one condensed product line for easier mass production. And with battery backup, you can rest assured it'll fail even if the power goes out.

This just made my day. But in all seriousness I'm sure if federal signal made a "ModMaster" it would be a horrific siren. We all know how great of a directional siren the RSH-10 was in the first place.
