The siren on Fee Fee Rd. south of Natural Bridge Rd. is just north of where a T-Bolt 1000T used to be located. That's the 'Bolt that was blown down in the Good Friday EF-4 tornado on April 22, 2011.

The map I found also shows status of sirens. Unfortunately, it seems like the 2910s are lightning magnets!!! As of right now:

The 2910 at the Kirkwood Community Center has been struck by lightning and is operating at 40% power.

The 2910 at Edison and Bell in Chesterfield has been struck by lightning and is operating at 75% power

The 2910 at Balance and Betsy Ross in unincorporated St. Louis County was struck by lightning and is operating at 80% power.

The 2910 at the Police Academy (1266 Sutter) in Wellston is broken as it was "destroyed by lightning"

The 2910 at Neosho and Osage in Pacific is broken due to "wind damage."

Sorry to bump this, but I know there's an active contingent of St. Louis siren enthusiasts here. Its pretty neat STL keeps this map updated with the siren status.

So guess what...the 2908 (I mistyped last year) at Edison and Bell has been zapped by lightning again. According to the notes on the map it is "Down 25% due to lightning strike." Talk about lightning striking the same place twice.

I urge you all to play with that map if you have time. I just discovered If you begin to zoom in that it has estimated db readings at the street level. You can zoom in anywhere in the county, click, and get an estimate as to how loud you should expect the siren to be. Kinda cool.

You did not just seriously bump a 3 year old topic...one that hasn't been updated in 6 months...just to say that. And clearly you didn't read the thread or else you'd know St. Louis County, MO has had Whelens since 1982. They weren't going with anything else.
