I might be able to get a better shot of it, but as you can see, it's under a house-thingy, and it's hard to see from the side. I'm pretty sure it's not a loudspeaker; I think it's a horizontal siren (from what I can see, it looks kind of like a bench grinder with a big horn-looking thing on one side.) of some type.

Edit: After looking up Little Giants and Darley Champions, I think that this thing looks quite a bit like a Darley, albeit one with a horn-thing on only one side. It's definitely not a Little Giant though.

Edit #2: Perhaps it's one of these? http://www.airraidsirens.com/forums/vie ... d46dc0f06a

That picture looks pretty darn close, if you ask me. If I were you, I'd go inside and ask the fire department about it. It sounds weird, but in Memphis there's a 2001 on top of the fire station, and I went in and asked if I could get roof access (kind of got ahead of myself). They said no, for security reasons...and I honestly don't blame them. However, they told me all about the siren, how long it's been there, etc. So it really never hurts to ask!

My friend who's also into sirens told me this was the siren for Kinsman, IL. I have no idea whether this is a siren or not since it's very small. Can anyone confirm whether it is or not?

Definitely a Model L. It almost looks like it may have some attachment on the end of the intake cone...

Okay, this isn't exactly a mystery siren, but it doesn't really go anywhere else.

In the movie "The Blues Brothers", was than an actual CLM on top of the Bluesmobile, or was it a mock-up? It sort of looks like they took a CLM, gutted it, and installed a very large loudspeaker in it. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

I think this was brought up a long time ago, and someone said that it was just a plastic cutout. The top "arm" above the cone (don't know what else to call it) completely gives it away.

I would think it's just a prop. CLMs must weigh a few hundred pounds, and I don't think the top of an old Chicago cop car could support that.

I`m very surprised that no where in any of the posts about the Blues Bros speaker siren I have ever seen mentioned the short scene in the movie where they show an actual in service (I believe) CLM at a park. It is on a standard metal pole with the work platform that they were mounted on. I noticed it in the movie just last week.
