The Siren Board

In the science-fiction movie "Quatermass 2", there is a siren at a
guardhouse, of the plant that is producing alien poison.

This siren goes off half a dozen times in the movie.

It looks like a Diaphone, but its shorter and has a real-windup.

Has anyone seen this or know what this is?


It was filmed in England (at the Shell Oil Refinery), if that helps.

Though I have never seen the movie, I'm gonna take a guess that the siren is some sort of Klaxon, as a Klaxon is the closest thing from Britain that I can relate to what you're saying, though I might check out YouTube.

Thats was a great movie ,tense , The siren was used well in the movie
when Quatermass and his assistant discover more of the rocks that have
come down his assistant , Peter ? , picks one up -its still warm-Quatermass
warns " Put it down ! " too late as the siren is sounding or will shortly as
the rock explodes and
the guards go up the side of the hill from the Moon Project or Plant
to take Peter away. Scared the heck out of me and perhaps others
who have seen this. It allways seemed like the horn on this siren
should be rotating like a T-bolt _ so perhaps the sound was dubbed.

IMO, that was the best science-fiction movie ever made.
Its very dynamic and gave me horrible nightmares for months
after i first saw it. It still gives me nightmares
