The Siren Board

So I don't have a video of the sirens yet, just because I have yet to locate the smaller ones that aren't the federal signals, but this video I found has a wonderful sound of all 10 of them going attack mode during the monthly test. I recently found my camera. (And re-found this board!) So be ready for the sirens themselves next month!

Where are VCU's sirens located?

There are 10 sirens spread across the campus in Richmond, Virginia. Two big ones per campus (There's the MCV campus, for medical students, and the Monroe Park campus, for everything else, The one you see as my avatar is located on top of the library in the Monroe Park campus) and 8 others of a different type that I have yet to find.

The loudest one is a Federal Signal 2001, likely a 2001-130. If I had to guess, the other ones sound like 8/16 port Sentries, and the closest Sentry sounds like a newer DC powered unit.

If you want to know more about the sirens at VCU, you could try and get in contact with the head of the college to see what info you can get. It is public information, so he really can't hide it from you.

Sounds like STH-10's in fast wail in the background. Not hearing the raspy tone of the sentries in that ear-piercing sound mess.

That 2001-130 in fast wail... that thing is truly loud when it bounces off buildings like that. Impressive to say none the least.

I think I found one of the smaller sirens. It doesn't rotate, but it has a bunch pointed outwards...I'll get a picture of it tomorrow after my exam, when there's better light.

From listening to the video you posted, it sounds like a Federal Signal Eclipse 8. Does it look like the one in this picture?
