Don't know if this has been posted before, but a fellow YouTube user filled me in on this website. It is really interesting to see what sirens compare to other sirens. If anyone knows model numbers better, fill me in because some of the ACA ones I can't figure out.

They recommend a hornet to replace a 500T, and a vortex R4 for the p-50. That's funny, I don't care who you are.

is this a chart for people to see what to replace their whelen's with???

okay I'm not understanding a few things here:

what's the difference between a vortex and a WPS4000, besides the price?

what's the difference between an omnialert and a 2900?

The vortex cannot do voice, and can be orded with 1-4 drivers. Whileas the 4004 can do voice and comes standard with 4 drivers.

That chart is funny. A hornet as an 'economic' replacement for a 2T22?

As far as American Signal / ACA models:
AL = Alertronic (speaker arrays)
AR = Rotating Alertronic (looked similar to the rotating ATIs)
ECN = Hormann (see http://www.hoermann-gmbh.de/en/ecn.html)
C-125 = Cyclone
OM series = later versions of the Screamer and Banshee
PN = Penetrators
I have no idea what the Q series sirens are
RE-1600 = another rotating Alertronic ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=usRNTvO3l-0)
RM = renamed Penetrators
SC = Screamer

I believe these were the Quadren sirens, which were the predecessors to the iForce lineup. Looked like the child of a Whelen omni and a Federal Mod.

I wish sirens would stop trying to cross breed, it's confusing to those who follow sirens.

I really wonder if a Hornet is as loud as a 500T. And, I doubt if Whelen has anything as loud as a T-135.

I know that the 500T (10/12) in Byron, GA is one of the most powerful sirens I've ever heard, right up there with a Thunderbolt. Ian can second this also, that thing has a nasty bite to it.

Thats why I find the concept of a hornet replacing one of those "amusing" to say the least.

Looked at it again and found a couple of more "funnies"

Cyclone-can be replaced with a 2909
STL-10- can be replaced with an OA2, or a 2901

I see crazywarriorman mentioned the difference between the Vortex and 4000, the difference for the OmniAlert and 2900 is almost the same. The OmniAlert can't do voice, and can only be stacked with up to 4 cells. While the 2900 is voice capable, and can be stacked with up to 10 cells.
