SD-10 UPDATE *1/22* *Almost complete!*

Thu Jun 30, 2011 4:45 am

Finally after 4-5 years of wanting to get a siren I finally was able to get this beauty. She is a 60's? Federal Sign & Signal SD-10A, She didn't come with a housing, She came with the core and a pole mount. The stator has slight surface rust and everything else is in damn good shape.

Heres a video dillon and I spinning it up by hand, before we got the intake tube off, which by the way was a MOTHER to get off.

Congratulations, and I'm amazed at how you got that thing in the back of a passenger car! How'd you lift it in & out?

You're welcome Rhett!!! I remember how excited I was when I got my first siren (the STH-10) last November...and here I am now with 5 sirens! It's an ADDICTING hobby! :D

Enjoy that thing, and watch your fingers! The 3T22 bit me once, with the rotor barely turning at all (and it hurt).

That's how we unloaded my first one (all in one piece). The one I got on eBay last year was apart (Motor, rotor and stator all together, but intake and housing off). That one, the seller and I heaved it into the back of the truck by hand, and that was no easy task (both of us are weightlifters too).

I'm dying to know the actual weight of an SD-10, since I've been bragging about deadlifting mine, and been saying 500 lbs +/-. The specs show 570-595 lbs complete with housing, but the housing only weighs 60 or 80 lbs, I'd say. We have a horse scales, and if I get a chance, I'll get an accurate weight.

*I cheated on the deadlift... It was from knee-height; not the ground
