Siren Decibel Ratings List

Federal seems to have most always falsely advertised Thunderbolts and a few others decibel ratings. Dane County, Wisconsin measures each of their sirens at eye level 100 feet away, and they only seem to got 125 out of each of their Thunderbolts.

Is this measurement with or without the blower amp'ing up the sound?

Uh no, it would be a lot quieter than that without the blower.

Wait, wouldn't the 7 be louder than the 5?

I got the Thunderbolt's rating from Wikipedia, which says 126 for the 1000. It didn't list ratings for any of the other models, so I didn't include them in the list, because I wanted to be sure. So all of them put out 125 except the 1000?

@carexpertandy: How did you access the Whelen website? When I tried, all I got was "Page Not Found.".

Isn't the Chrysler the highest db rating? I can't remember the numbers without looking it up, but I remember concluding that it's the loudest ever built...

Regarding the Model 5, 7, and SD-10, etc... I don't know the ratings on my particular Model 5 and SD-10, but I believe the 5 is louder significantly than the SD-10. I've run them up in the same location, and to my perception, there's no doubt. But to be clear; that's my own personal observation.

I found out that the Model 5 puts out 113, and the SD-10 puts out 109 (They've been added to the list.). So the 5 is indeed louder than the SD-10, but I still don't know about the Model 7; one would think that it'd be louder than the Model 5.

5 and 7 are both the same siren, and they both put out around 114db. SD-10 and 5T are more like 108db.

The 10 horse banshee is 115 DB. The 25 horsepower variants are rated even higher.

German E57: 101 db

According to Hoermann, E57 is rated at 101 - 105 dB @ 30m. The nominal sound pressure is 129 dB.

Wasn't the rating for the Thunderbeam exaggerated? Maybe 125 or so would sound somewhat reasonable if not a bit of a stretch itself, considering there's just a plate underneath and no proper horn.
