The Siren Board

Okay, so i was wondering something. Sirens like the MOD and whelen omnidirectionals are stacked, and you can add on extra pods. Now, i'm guessing the different numbers mean different db ratings? And, what would a 2 pod MOD or 3 pod MOD or so on be called. Same with whelens. (And im pretty sure that with whelens the model name is partly referring to the number of pods) Can u give like, a list of the model names for any stacked sirens???

For the Modulators, the first number indicates the number of active cells, the second number is always 0, and the last 2 numbers indicate the number of watts in hundreds the siren uses. For example, 1004=1 active cell, 400 watts. 3012=3 active cells, 1200 watts. The bottom cell does not count as an active cell. Therefore, you have to picture the siren with 1 extra cell.

For the Whelens, the first 2 numbers only indicate the model as far as I know, and the last 2 numbers indicate the number of cells. For example 1 active cell could be a 2710, 2801, or 2901. For the 2700 series, the model always has the third number as active cells, and ends with 0. The 2800 and 2900 are the exact opposite, except when you have 10 cells, its the 2810 and 2910. I believe the 2700 series were only offered up to 6 cells.

You both are partially correct. Whelen only offered 5 different models of the 2700 series, but it began with a 2-cell model (WPS-2720) and went up to a 6-cell model (WPS-2760). They didn't offer a 1-cell model in that series (at least not from the factory), nor did they offer anything larger than 6 cells.
