There's an audio recording of that siren from about 5 miles away on the victory siren website that sounds awesome. It looks like it was in the same area in this video about 6 months later.

This video is a simulation of a Chrysler sounding attack for 3 minutes in a large city. It sounds so awesome that I sometimes just listen to it while I'm working on my computer.

It's not as haunting in this video, but you can tell that it's very, very loud. I think I've actually seen this a while ago; as far as I know, it's one of only two videos on Youtube of a Chrysler going at full speed (not sure where the other one is.).

Forgive me if this is a stupid question but here goes. On a gas engine siren such as a Chrysler or MD, how do you get the wind up and wind down in attack when operating the sirens with out having to physically have a hand on the siren's engine to throttle back the and then accelerate. I am guessing such must be done bringing the rpm's up and down to produce the attack signal.

I think either the Chrysler sirens required an operator OR they had some sort of throttle control solenoid in place that was hooked to the engine governor.

Thanks for the reply Holler. I could never figure how the system of them they had in Detroit could be run by remote (land lines and realys). Thanks again for the reply it clears that up for me.
