Tue Apr 30, 2013 8:48 pm

Hello everyone. As you may know, I was siren hunting around Central Ohio on Saturday. Finally, here are the pictures:

Dublin- Ligget Road off I-161: Whelen WPS-2805

West Jefferson- Route 40: Fedelcode 5 and Federal Signal Thunderbolt 1003
[The Thunderbolt is inactive due to motor issues, however, the EMA is trying to raise funds for repairs.]

You said that last one is a WPS-4004 but posted a picture of a Thunerbolt...

Interesting to see something other than Whelens in central Ohio. I was under the impression that most of that area was Whelen country (considering I've seen Whelens as far from Columbus as Wilmington and Chillicothe).

It looks like a WPS-4000, but the pic is to low res. to be 100% sure.

It's a 4004. I asked the EMA, and they said they only have 3016s and 4004s. Also, the picture IS NOT LOW-RESOLUTION because I took them with my iPad in HD mode!

I am sorry, I should have said low quality and that Photobucket might have compressed it some.

Yea, I *tried* to upload a video I made of the sirens, but on my PC, it was HD and crystal clear, but Photobucket compressed it and honestly, if I smeared a turd on my wall, it would have better definition than Photobucket.

That's kind of odd. I use Photobucket and I've never had problems with picture quality (I don't know about videos because my camera takes really low-resolution videos). The photos look the same as they do on my computer. I don't think your pictures are that bad though.

I've only been to Ohio once, and the only sirens I saw were a couple 2001s near the David-Besse nuclear power plant (that's in northern Ohio though).

Yeah, the pics do still look ok and you did a good job, I just could not see the finer detail I was looking for too well (the gear box that makes the siren head oscillate)

It was hard to tell that it was a Whelen from that picture. It looked like a TBolt when I posted that.

Also, I would never use photo-hosting sites like Photobucket for video. Use a dedicated video site like YouTube or Vimeo for that.
