Oklahoma Siren Meetup 2013

"The Loudest Party Of The Year"

The weekend of June 1 and 2 saw a gathering of siren enthusiasts for getting together with old friends, meeting some new friends, and incidentally, setting off air raid sirens!

Thanks to all that made the trip out to a place in the middle of nowhere, where the blare of an air raid siren raises not the slightest curiosity. Special thanks to Dillon Carpenter and the Tomlinson family for providing the perfect atmosphere for making a whole lot of noise.

Special thanks also to Bryan Draper for picking up a three phase generator and towing it to the farm raising the decibel level substantially.

I will be adding photos of the sirens and the guests to my flickr page over the next days.

Looks like you guys had a lot of fun, despite the terrible weather the day before.

The weather put a little dent in the plans, but nothing too bad. It was actually perfect this weekend. Not too hot like last time. It was a little soggy but that's to be expected.

I had a great time myself! My Thunderbolt needs worked on some more but that's not a huge hurry for me. Looking forward to seeing everyone's pictures and video. I'm currently editing the tons of video that I have.

Sweet, I was going to actually ask if it could be since it no longer applies.

We had Bryan, Travis, Cory, Jeff and his dad, Logan, Jordan (Logan's friend), Tyler and his grandpa, Ben and Kyle, my grandpa, and me. My grandpa's cousin showed up for a little bit. We even had a few locals show up who were interested in what we were doing. Some people heard us from about three miles away. Everyone thought it was cool rather than freaked out, which is good.

It was a good time... the generator was worth the extra trouble and is a must for next year. It will be in the same location but we're going to make things a little more smooth running in terms of time tables! I think my head ache is finally subsiding after playing with a total of 12+ sirens! Videos to come soon!

Man that 20KW looks like it's working pretty hard to push that siren.
