Junk Shop Find

Sat Jun 29, 2013 10:59 pm

Here's a Simplex 4030 I found at a local junk shop for $12. It actually still runs! We tested it at the shop, and it sounded just fine. Here are the pictures:

So, how did I do for $12?

Looks pretty cool!! That's a great find for $12! It's also it pretty good condition for how old it might be.

I have a feeling it is from the 60's or 70's.

Thanks!

That looks pretty good for being in a "junk" shop! That is a nice find! Wonder if it is original? For $12, you probably can't buy a new horn for that little.

I bet the guy didn't know what he had. He had the tag marked as a "squirrel scrambler".

Very nice find, and 115 volts too. I'd say it's a late 50's horn, because it's right after they bought out IBM's fire alarm and time clock division, and before Benjamin electric went out of business (original manufactures of the 4030 series) and they switched to the brand new at the time Federal vibratone 350 . I just bought a flush mount 12 volt 4037-1 on eBay last week for $20, so for $12 you got a good deal.

Interesting. There's no switch on it, it's just hard-wired to a plug, from the looks of it.
