UK Cold War/WW2 Sirens

Hi.

I'm new to the site and thought i'd introduce myself and ask a question.

The first time i heard a siren i was 4 or 5 and in school. So 1989/1990.

Everybody froze and the teacher left the classroom to find out what was happening. A very scary experience as i knew it was a bad sound, but didn't know what it meant.

Probably why i have an interest in them now, i find them fascinating.

Theres still a siren at the quarry about 4 miles away which you can hear sometimes, it's definitely powered and sounds like the classic ww2/cold war siren.

I'm trying to find out the locations of the old cold war/ww2 sirens in my area. bolton, Greater Manchester, England.

Does anybody know how to find this out? I've seen various sources saying it's the police or the home office. I was thinking of doing a freedom of information request.

I've tried to find old siren poles and boxes but not had much luck. I have come across one strange looking cabinet which I've attached, not sure if this used to be one?

It's a shame the government felt the need to dismantle the network, i think they should have been left as a reminder.

Sorry for the long post, any help would be appreciated.
