Not very successful, only found two 508s. One of which was a new location though.
The new location on Jefferson Street:

The one on Armory Street. This siren replaced a Thunderbolt 1000:

I wouldn't be surprised if it was the result of a severe thunderstormand small tornado that hit Athens a few months back.

Fail! Should reinforce it with aluminium.

At least they don't have hail holes punched in the fiberglass. Federal's quality has gone down the crapper big time. The screen retaining piece is already broken on a new 508...

Aw man, don't tell me I have to change my username guys...
Nice images here freebrick! I certainly hope it was a tornado that did that.
Cheers,
Joshua

I'm betting it was damage from the slightly recent Athens, AL storm. Here are some news stories about the storm:

Unfortunately, that's not storm damage. It's poor design. There are 113 508s near Chattanooga, TN, another 101 in Spring City, TN, as well as the 105 near Athens, AL. We're having problems with just about all aspects of these 508s. The screen hardware is just the most visible problem. Since our sirens were installed, Federal has changed the design of the screen hardware so that this doesn't happen any more. Too bad we're stuck with 319 508s that do have this problem.
