I heard it around 2am, it sounded like a silent hill siren. I live in Queens, NY. My uncle said he heard it and it sounded like it was from Manhattan. Any clues anyone?

It could've been an STL-10 somewhere at a fire department, that or the 40V1T in Brooklyn.

The 40V1T can only be heard from midwood to willamsburg, Brooklyn. I'm guessing the first guess you made.

Yeah, the NYC and Long Island area has sirens varying from STLs to STHs, with Siro-Drones, 3T22s, T-1003s etc.

In two words... Siren Wonderland!

Trust me, they used to. You likely heard an STL-10, was it sounding in attack?

Interesting, the only siren I know that sounds for hurricanes is a Modulator in Manasquan, NJ which does alternate wail. The siren you've heard could've been a call responding to damage from Sandy.
