The Siren Board

We took a trip to Elgin, IL a few days ago for an IT job and we saw some sirens along the way and did a little bit of hunting. We also stopped by the Federal Signal plant in University Park to get some pictures of the sirens they have there.

The first one we saw that I got a picture of was a Sentry 20V2T (or 15V2T) on the side of I65 (I believe):

Next was an ASC RM-130 next to the Boomers water tower near Chicago:

We then passed by a 2nd Gen 2001-SRN. I don't know the name of the town:

Then as we were exiting the interstate we passed a 3rd Gen. 2001-SRN behind a City Building in Elgin (I forgot the name of the building):

Then we went to do the IT job, but we were not able to finish it that day, so we stayed in a hotel. On the way to the hotel we passed a P-50 in Bartlett, IL! On the way up we were pretty excited wondering if it was a satellite or not. I pulled out our video camera to zoom in and see if it was one, and it was!

This one really makes it look big! Also I do not know what the solar panel is for.

Then next we stopped at the Federal Signal plant to get pictures of their 2001-130, 508, Eclipse 8 and Modulator MOD 6024:

(From here on the picture quality drops, I filled up the xD card in the camera (Olympus E-Volt 500), so I had to use my pocket camera (Olympus FE-47) and the lens had a big smudge on it.)

After we stopped at the plant we drove down the road from it and saw a 2nd Gen. 2001-SRN next to a fire station not too far away from the plant:

We drove down the road more and saw a small town called Peotone, IL, so we looked to see if we could find a small fire department with an old siren, and we found a 2001 Roundback. It wasn't at a fire derpartment but at the "derpartment of public works"

After that we drove down a long stretch of road and saw another small town called Beecher, IL and looked for fire department there too. We took one road and saw a 3rd (or 4th?) Gen. 2001-SRN:

Then we went to another part of the town and saw a 2001-130 (no pictures). Then we saw a Model 5 at what looked like a retired fire department (there was a new one across the street). The whole pole was yellow too:

We drove down the road more and saw a 2001-130 in some town I do not know the name of (if it was a town):

It's really interesting that they mounted the Eclipse 8 on the same pole as the old Thunderbolt they had there at Federal Signal. I thought they had the 2001 mounted there.

The first 2nd gen 2001 is in Hanover Park.

Thank you for the info, I will update the picture.

I am surprised they did not have a Mod 2 up there. Also, I believe that the Mod is where the thunderbolt was according to the siren archive

No. The Thunderbolt was where the Eclipse 8 is now.

The Eclipse is where the 2001 is in this pic:

And at the bottom of the 2001's pole...


Now that settles it.

Oh, ok, that is right, Your right, It just confused me because they moved the 2001's spot and the fact that it is now a 130 and was a SRN

I bet they must have had quite an assortment in the old days of CD!

Does anybody know how long the 508 has been installed at the Federal Signal HQ, and did anybody know it was there before mrboojay went there?

The steep cowels on the housing on the model 5, would this be the C3 1/2 or what ever that was?
