This is the infamous super fast spinning MD. It has also been brought up about the housing possibly being an Allertor housing. You can clearly see in the pictures that the housing is fiberglass. Unfortunately it didn't go off while we were there. They have a fb page that I am now friends with maybe I can set something up to go record it sometime

looks like it is a Allertor shroud that has been modified to fit on a MD back of the shroud looks like it was modified to fit the c-phase mounting to the motor

Great Pics! I have known about that Mobil Directo for quite some time now. That Mobil Directo looks to be in exellent condition, they must really take care of it. A video can be found at this page: http://yorkvillehose.com/Yorkvillehose/ ... ation.html

How different are the Allertor and the MD in terms of chopper and motor size?

The electric MD I think uses a 10 hp motor just like the Allertor, but I think all electic MDs were 10/12 ports, while the 10 and 15 hp Allertors were all either 8 ports or 9/12 ports, while I think the gas MD used a 25 hp motor and were 8 ports. Memphis' MD is electric and 8 ports, but it was converted from gas.

Shoot, I am curious as what a Mobil Directo sounds like in attack. It can't be different from a 10/12 port Allertor in attack, but still...

Yorkville posted a comment on my fb

Yorkville Hose Fire-Rescue "The original bell was metal, after years of faithful use the metal was rusting through, the replacement bell ordered and installed is fiberglass, should last many years."
