City of Warner Robins to get new sirens.

Wed Mar 28, 2007 12:31 pm

Just heard on the news that the city of Warner Robins, GA is getting new sirens. All they currently have are three nonfunctioning Thunderbeams. I'm not sure who they are going to use or what brand they are going to pick.

Hopefully Ed Wise can snag this one and put in a new system of Sentries. I don't know if they want to stick with Federal Signal products or not.

I wonder if this comes as a response to the Enterprise, Alabama tornado last month, but it's a good thing to get new sirens and warn the public effectively.

We had a string of tornadoes come through the night after the Enterprise twister and killed 9 people. The only ones who could get any warning where those who lived at least 1/2 mile near the AFB and could hear the Modulators and DSA's go off (LOUD!).

Enterprise has a system of Whelen Vortex sirens  , but glad to hear Warner Robins investing in a siren system.

Americus, GA, also had a person killed in the same system that hit
Enterprise a few weeks ago. That's between Warner Robins & Albany.

Warner Robins itself had a severe Tornado around 1951.
