Yellow 2001-130 in hawaii

Mon Oct 14, 2013 11:26 am

While siren hunting on google maps, i discovered a Yellow Federal 2001-130 on the big island  This is a big thing for the future of the hawaii civil defence siren system since all their new sirens have been modulators. Hopefully we will see more of these Civil Defense Yellow 2001's. Image is below

I don't think that's a -130. The box on the back looks square to me.

Here's a better picture I found:

It looks like a 2nd generation to me (notice that theres no large FS logo covering the entire horn). This is the only 2001 in the state of Hawaii and it will most likely stay like that.

I recently Emailed the state civil defense about the siren and if there are any plans for future 2001 installations and i am awating a reply. Hopefully there will be more 2001's installed since our modulators high pitched tone cant carry more than a 1/2 mile.

Yeah, Romeoville, Illinois has a few. There's even a few others in parts of the US.

There is a town in texas that also has yellow 2001's. It's in the eastern part of the state, fairly close to the louisiana state line.

The only FS 2001 I'm aware of in Hawaii is at Hapuna Beach State Park.

ETA- My point is this Hapuna Beach siren has been mentioned before.
