It's a fake, a real CLM would destroy the car lol. The interesting thing is where they got the idea of a CLM, because Chicago (where it was filmed), had thunderbolts, and was in Federal Signal territory

As Mark said, it's not a real siren, but does resemble a CLM.

Maybe it was the largest siren they could find that looked like a loudspeaker, so they patterned the roof-mounted apparatus after it...

I know its not a real on, it would fall through the roof!

Thats pretty interesting, cause they could have used a tbolt horn just as easily!
Maybe the director was a siren nut!

No, more like they just wanted something that looked like a loudspeaker.

A real CLM wouldnt destroy a freaking '74 Dodge Monaco. But yes all it was, was a replica. There were never any CLM sirens installed in Chicago let alone outside of Canada.

Dan Aykroyd, who wrote the movie, is from Canada and owned a bar in Toronto. So, he probably saw a CLM and was inspired to put it into the script. I suspect the short scene where they show the playground with the CLM was filmed in Toronto.
