Oklahoma Road Trip Sirens

Here are some of the sirens I saw while driving though Oklahoma to deliver some donations to Carney. I was really impressed to see that Carney, a town with a little over 600 people, had at least two Allertors, a Sentry, and a model 5.

Here's the first Allertor on the south side of town.

Here's the Sentry which looks fairly new.

Here is the old model 5 they have in the center of town.

This is the other Allertor by the fire department. This one is noticeably missing it's projector which they appear to have set by the fire station building. I suspect this siren was wind damaged when the F3 tornado came through on May 19th. However, the projector didn't look too bad from what I could see of it.

Heading back to Texas, here are some of the other sirens I saw along I-35.

Edmond 2001s.

Going though OKC, here's a pretty good shot of the skyline.

My dad and I stopped to grab some lunch in Moore and happened to spot the recently restored Thunderbolt posted here before while going through the drive through.

I spotted another Thunderbolt just south of Goldsby.

Finally back in Texas, I snapped a picture of the Gainesville T-135.

There were a whole bunch of Modulators seen from I-35 in Purcell and Moore as well as Whelen omnidirectionals in Norman and OKC, but I didn't have the time to go out and take pictures of all of them. Hope you all enjoy the pictures!

Nice pics, I didn't know Carney had more than the one Model 5! In Moore you might have been able to see the 508 on 4th. I did easily from the interstate today.

Yes, I did in fact see the 508 on the way up there. Unfortunately I was on a deadline and couldn't stray off to get pictures. I might possibly be going back for a second trip this Tuesday though.

I wonder what that allertor sounds like with no horn attached?

Probably sounds like a dual tone banshee.

Allertor horns are bad about tearing out behind the bolt holes. There isn't much material there and the horn is way off balance.

I'll bet you that the second Allertor's horn didn't get damaged in a storm. I think it probably just fell off, like the one in Middleburg, Virginia. The Allertor in Middleburg sounded really sick after its horn fell off, so I bet that one sounds sick too.

An F3 tornado went through there several months before I took that picture and it destroyed a big section south of town. That storm seems to be a more likely scenario for the missing horn instead of it just "falling off."

Did you read about the one that used to be in Middleburg, Virginia?

Sorry to bring up an old topic, but what streets are the southside Allertor and Sentry in Carney on?

In the future you might try taking some of the image URLs out of the quote when you reply. It would make the page feel less cluttered and easier to load.

Anyways, to answer your question.

Allertor:
