I know this isn't much of a discussion, but I'm just curious to see how common this type installation for a Thunderbolt is. There are 4 Thunderbolts left in Scottsbluff, NE. The system wasn't very big and originally the whole system comprised of 5 Thunderbolts until one was replaced last year due to a malfunction. A few neighboring towns had Thunderbolts and they were all mounted this way. It just doesn't seem like a common way to install a Tbolt. I personally like this installation style. But I'm just curious if there are any other Tbolts set up like this. Photo credit for the first picture goes to The Siren Archive. (Unfortunately, the Tbolt in the first picture was the one that was replaced.)

Cobb County, GA had 2 Thunderbolts mounted this way.
The blower boxes weren't as high up the pole as these. Both sirens have now been replaced by Whelens.

I suppose mounting the blower that high up creates a hassle, if the city needs to perform maintenance to it, you'd have to get a bucket truck. But at least you have a work platform, just don't be afraid of heights haha

We just installed one that's double pole mounted. But not that high though.
Fighting with that blower cover in a single man bucket or off a ladder is not fun.

Quite a few of Macon, GA's older (early 1970's) Thunderbolts were mounted on elevated platforms as well, with one of those platforms still remaining at one of the current 2001 installations.
