Auburn, IN Thunderbolt 1003 Pictures

Tue Dec 24, 2013 5:23 am

Here is a Thunderbolt 1003. It is an ordinary T-bolt, but it looks nice!

It looks like it just got painted, the support pipe is mounted on the pole, everything that controls the siren is on the ground fenced off, and it looks like it will be servicing for decades to come.

In my opinion, I think there way too many 2001's in Indiana!

Finally someone who cares,I now officially love this city.
My knowledge excels on the Federal Thunderbolt siren and SiraTone EOWS sirens. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Aren't they the ones who put a Model 5 housing on their ACA screamer? Or am I thinking of a different one?

Yes. They also are the only ones in NYS to my knowledge that still use the HI/LO signal on their 1003s.

In case anyone was wondering, Auburn has 4 1003s, 4 older (early 90s) 2001s, an STL-10, SD-10 and a T-128.

How often do they test? Is it possible to get a recording sometime?

That's a cool system, older growling and raspy sirens, mixed in with a touch of higher pitched modern sirens.
