Fort Worth Siren Hit By Car

Wed Jan 08, 2014 8:22 am

Today was my "first day" at my new job with the City Of Fort Worth and SafetyCom, aside from the general discussion of what all needs to get done I had an interesting first service call today.

A citizen called in and reported a siren had been struck by a car and that the siren head was laying on the ground across the street. I headed over to have a look and check on the damage done. When I arrived I was pretty shocked to see the siren completely destroyed. Who/Whatever hit the siren was a large vehicle and was either driven or towed away from the scene before the city was notified the siren was down. Anyway here are some pics of the damage done.

Most everything is totaled but some stuff might be salvageable, there will likely be a new siren standing in this spot some time soon.

I have never seen one of these concrete poles damaged as bad as this one was.

Just a little lovetap...

It's a proven fact, cars will drive for miles to hit a utility pole.

Wow, I thought the control box would've fared much worse.

Congrats on your new job!

It won't be quite that high, least from what I was told.

Thanks! I'm excited to finally get my business off the ground and get to work on these things as a job now! I get the pleasure of maintaining all 153 sirens that Fort Worth has as well as a few other cities in the DFW metro area.
