Anyone ever see this or know what it's for? Like a trouble light or something?

Wow, Park Ridge is the 4th town I've seen those same orange lights on. Palatine, Inverness and Barrington have them on all their sirens as well. As for what they do, I have no idea. Judging by where it is, (between the disconnect and the controller) perhaps it flashes for power fluctuations? It's the only thing I can think of.

New Lennox has a 2001 with an orange strobe, too. I don't remember where though.

Kinda reminds me of the power lights Niles, MI. has on their Allertors.

Could it be to signal a tripped breaker to service personnel for every siren that doesn't wind up when power is sent to it?

Its probably just a light to show when the siren is activated. All of Park Ridges sirens has them. I will fond out for sure when I go film one their sirens this year.

AFAIK they are "standby" lights. They remain lit for a period of time after the siren has been activated. Most of the ones around here remain lit between 24-72 hours after activation. They seem to be on all of the 2001's around here. Never seen them on any other siren.

Why? Is it so the city people can go around a tell which siren activated?

Your guess is as good as mine. That would make sense, though.

Probably for the cities that have one way controllers. All of the strobes ive seen on 2001's were with the FC One way controller.
