I thought this article was worth sharing. It appears Cannon Beach, OR is getting ready to test its tsunami system.

What I found interesting about their system is that it appears to be a ramshackle bunch of Whelens.

1 (and most obviously). The dual head 3016 set-up. We've seen this in AZ for a flood warning systems, but those are with 4000 heads. Granted, it looks like these are old, painted 3016 heads. Since they're still on their rotators, no doubt they were repurposed. Either the rotators broke and the heads reused or the rotators were disabled.

2) The system of omnis are 2800s (the pictured one seems to have been used for target practice). It appears they community just acquired new sirens judging from photo captions. But it appears those new acquisitions are more 2800s to use for spare parts.

3) Judging from the talk of a "digital upgrade," it would seem the sirens were FPUed.

Anyhow, enjoy the article and the ramshackle Whelens.

P.S. For the trivia minded among us, Cannon Beach is the home of the mooing Whelens.

I believe that those siren heads came from Umatilla County. The entire system was removed in late 2012 after the last of the chemical weapons had been destroyed.

I have a feeling those 3016s are Ex-Trojan nuke plant sirens. I see areas that show the OD Green-ish color that they painted their Tbolts and Whelens
