TurbopropPilot wrote:Well, remember they just approved it. That is a stock photo. Also, it does not say what sirens have been selected. I highly doubt that got to that yet. If the price tag is true, it looks like they are $21,632 each. Not bad!

For junk... sure that good price !

$21,000 is the average going price for sirens in the 128-130 db range. Doesn't seem that far out of line at all.

21k is the same price range that you find whelen's vortex and ASCs T-128 sirens. Most new sirens are in the 18-25k range there are some cheaper options, but most of those options do not prove the same range of coverage, or are AC power only sirens.

Bid form here: http://www.cityofmiltonga.org/finance/d ... _final.pdf

Says the sirens will be on galvanized steel poles painted black, will be two way and able to work with the Federal Commander system.

Wonder if they are getting the 508 or the 130? Calls for a siren that must be able to put out at least 120 db @ 100ft, and no mention of voice, only electromechanical.

Why do you keep posting these useless siren approval posts? It's their money, let them spend it as they want, instead of saying it's junk. I've said it before and I'll say it again, sirens are sirens, no matter how we nor the government nor the folks who approved it looks at it.

Well that's generally the way it works. They already have made up their minds on what they want and tailor the bid to that specific product and manufacturer. I've seen them go as far as to list the required siren projector material, color, and finish.
