The Siren Board

I think roof-mounted sirens should always be on the highest part of the building. Here are some examples of buildings/sirens where that is not the case.

Anyway, sirens can be helped and burdened by things obstructing the sound like that. In the case of a slanted roof, the roof directs the sound higher. In the case of a wall, the sound goes the other way. Sometimes the highest point in a building isn't easily accessible or isn't structurally safe to support a large, heavy siren on the top.
