It's really impressive, but have you ever heard it? I've got a "siren" test from the netherlands where they use these Federals. The SID of the Commodore 64 is high end compared to that. I prefer other American sirens.

There are no mechanical components which could be worn over the years. Maybe a speaker but they are very durable.

Concerning Modulators in the Netherlands, the Dutch siren sounds are truly strange and are quite different from those used in America. I don't know much about electronic sirens, but I believe Federals are the only ones with a dual-tone sound.
