I wonder what the Federal Signal logo would look like in blue on that Modulator. Very different indeed. :D

I saw the updated webpage a couple weeks ago.

yeah, the modulator is massive. the one at the Federal Plant is pretty low
mounted and you can get a good idea of how massive those things really
are.

A good chunk of Chicago' modulators are around where I live, Wrigley field is only a few blocks down and I can see the mod from my window...from 19 stories up. It is huge. The one at Lincoln Park Zoo actually sways in the breeze, and its on a wooden pole! The pole sways from about halfway up. They shouldnt be that bad to service, notice the access panels??

On a WPS-series siren, you can simply pull a driver out by hand at once, while you have to unscrew a panel to get to a driver in a Modulator.

Not on 2800s, that would be the biggest pain of virtually any driver replacement.

Yeah, though the WPS 2900 series has the EZ-Pull drivers.

To be honest: I don't know how one can be fascinated by the modulators. It's just some electtrodymanical drivers. The construction might be huge but there is no mechanical process happening in the siren. It's like a normal speaker. In Germany we don' like the modulators including the modern H?rmanns.

To me, as long as an outdoor-warning siren is very loud and sounds good, it's great!
