I have to agree. I have no real affection for them, my fascination simply lies with the sheer size of them! Over here we are still living in the past, all our sirens are of the "Carter" design still. I am aware that Klaxon, along with their mechanical sirens, offer a range of electronic sirens:

This link will require Adobe Reader, looks pretty impressive but the Alert tone leaves much to be desired...

Personally, they lack any character that would create an interest for me. Opinions vary though.

Klaxon speaker sirens are basically the same as Hormann speaker sirens.

What does that mean?
Yes, I don't care for loud speaker sirens. Not the charm of chopped air.

The one at Lincoln Park Zoo actually sways in the breeze, and its on a wooden pole! The pole sways from about halfway up. They shouldnt be that bad to service, notice the access panels??
When I saw that siren last december, the pole was leaning A LOT and
buckling under the weight of the thing. They are MASSIVE.

Has anyone reported this to the authorities?

Yes I have, along with the 2001 by work, and the 2001 by the Nabisco factory. Whether or not they do anything about it, we'll see. Itll probably fall first. Its been like that since I discovered it 2 years ago. The mod by my condo at wrigley doesnt sway like that one does.
