The Siren Board

Many of you probably know this already, but I recently scored an amazing deal on a Model 7. I plan on restoring it top to bottom. The rotor spins freely and the outer housing is in GREAT condition. Here are some of the pics. Sorry in advance because some of them are probably sideways.

Any advice on removing the rotor? It only has one of the threaded holes on the side for a puller. The other one is there but it's blocked off by a metal insert.

By metal insert do you mean the gib key? If so that needs to be removed before you can pull it anyway. Some people will say otherwise but I stripped my bolt holes trying to use a puller without removing the key first

Yeah there's a key in it, but I mean that there's those two bolt holes on the side. One is open but the other is filled with a piece of metal that sits flush with the surface. I'm not sure what it is or how to get it out.

my first thought was the same as MysteryMachine but whatever's filling that seems like it's too flush to be a broken-off bolt. Usually when you break a bolt it's a torsional fracture; the broken surface will be "twisted" looking and have at least one thin shard ready and willing to slice your thumb open. have you tried scraping away at what's in there to see if it's actually metal?

Yeah I looked at it real close but it looks to be the same exact material as the rest of the metal around it. The pic makes it look weird. I'm thinking it was a pre made thing where they just punched out the holes somehow but I'm not really sure.

Paint removal has started and it's going pretty smoothly now that I bought a 4.5" grinder. I'm using something like 60 grit flapper disk. The several coats of stripper was barely touching the paint.

Sorry to bump, but the restoration is in full swing. I finally got the rotor off with lots of leverage. I also got the outside of the housing in primer and the stator, intake, and bracket in paint. I would post pics here but I'm on mobile so it's not very feasible.
