The Siren Board

I recently went on a trip to Washington. I found some great sirens.

NOICE!!!! You know there is supposedly another chrysler victory bell up the street at a park right? And lots of thunderbolts in Longview! But awesome pics man!!!!

Unfortunately I was unable to make it to long view but I really wanted to go down there to see the thunderbolts!

The two Model 7-looking things (there are two on that building) have puzzled me for years. They don't seem to have vents. Not just the vent screens are painted, they're smooth where vents or screens should be. And there are indeed two on the building, about 20-30 feet apart, both on those thick poles. Note that there seems to be a conical downward-angled surface under the upper eave, and there's a ridge below the lower one. Can anyone confirm that these are sirens? I can't remember if both, or only that one, have warning lights down the poles.

The Chrysler on Phinney Ridge got a cosmetic restoration only. The one northwest of Northfate Mall, beside the parking lot of Northacres Park, is rusty but appears intact. The other Seattle Chryslers were:

Seattle police garage, downtown: building razed in the 80s.
Washington Athletic Club, downtown: Can't spot it on aerial maps, may be removed.
Seattle City Light, south of downtown: quite visibly no longer on the building.
Georgetown Steam Plant: also quite visibly no longer in place.
Columbia City area: Pictured on a barren hillside in the Victory Siren photo archive, that entire area is full of houses and trees. A list someone posted gave me an approximate address, but I hunted near there and couldn't find it. A resident I met said she vaguely remembered seeing, many years ago, some sort of big 'thing' on a tower like I described, but couldn't remember where, exactly, except 'up the hill.'

Washington also has at least two (I think defunct) Thunderbolts in the area of Kelso, on the east side of I-5, with more in Longview, that were for I forget which defunct nuclear plant.

The trojan nuclear power plant... There are 5, used to be 7, in longview and many others in kelso and kalama.

I'm surprised that you missed a ton of AHAB locations, were you just driving through at the time?

There were a couple of Thunderbolts on the Oregon side, on Alston-Mayger Road just west of Rainier (across the bridge from Longview). One was in the trees in the Downing area and the other was at a fire station near Mayger. Of course, it's been a decade since I drove that road.

It almost looks like they are still there... But it's hard to tell on google maps. I think I might have found the allertor though. Is it a red allertor sitting on a metal tower or would it be on a wooden pole?

I was just driving through, that's why I missed all the HAAB sirens. I was only in Washington for 5 days so I didn't have a lot of time.

Is that Chrysler for display only?
