My Model L Siren

Fri Mar 28, 2014 11:13 pm

I just got my new to me Federal Signal Corp. Model L siren in a few days ago from ebay. I got it for $60. I tested it and it works well. (I'll eventually make videos of all my sirens..) I'll update this thread as I restore it.

Thanks!! I took the rotor off and I used a soft wire wheel on a drill to clean all the old paint then I just primed it and painted it gloss grey.

Here's a link to my Model A restoration..

For $60, that is a really nice buy! (Also, looks like you forgot to use on your link above...)

I finally got to restoring my Federal Signal Model L Siren. Here's a few pictures of how it looks after I finished.

Why did you replace some older screws and older bolts with newer bolts? I don't do that on my sirens (but when I lost some original screws, I replace them with newer screws). But it looks like new! Great job on the restoration!

I assume he did it because it looks better then old rusty screws being on there.

Also nice job man, looks like my Model L
