Hey folks,
After nine years, I have finally gotten the V.F.W. Park 40V2T in action. It failed to sound all previous attempts. This guy is LOUD!
Last week, Katy replaced the 40V2T north of town, by the water tower on Katy-Hockley Rd. It had been out of service for several years. Katy must love their 40V2Ts because another one replaced it, but this time in white. Their system now has two yellow 40V2Ts (V.F.W. Park and Katyland Dr.) and two white 40V2Ts (Animal Control Building and Katy-Hockley Rd). Today was the new siren's first time to be sounded for a city-side test. Unfortunately it is hard to get to because it is on restricted land and there are no parking lots with a view of it nearby.
This is why I recorded the V.F.W. siren.
According to the city's website, Katy now tests in alert for 30 seconds.
Better than the 5-10 seconds they have done in years past.
