Chrysler Siren info and introduction

Hello everyone, Been a siren nut for quite some time. I currently only have two small vehicular sirens but am always looking for local large ones.

While looking through the site I noticed quite a few threads asking about locations of the Chrysler sirens. The following site has a wealth of information on the sirens in general. This link shows all the known locations of Chryslers on their initial installs.

I'm looking forward to learning from all the knowledgeable people here.

Well I live in the Chicago area, and according to Wikipedia, (not always right) All the Victory Sirens have been *sniffle* removed. :(

All I know is Chrysler sirens are really loud, they can be heard very far away and they have a HEMI V8 engine.

There's one sitting in the center of Greenville, SC nestled atop an old hotel building.

I visited the site not long ago and it hadn't been updated in years. Not sure if he's still around or what. He used to post a lot on here but kind of just "dropped off" many years ago.

There are (at least) two Chryslers remaining of the Seattle system, both on metal towers. One, on Phinney Ridge northwest of Woodland Park Zoo, has been cosmetically restored but is not functional. The other, at Northacres Park, has not been restored at all.

The others:
Seattle Police Garage (building razed early 1980s)
Georgetown Steam Plant (visibly no longer in place - it's a museum now and I plan to ask)
City Light Warehouse (visibly no longer in place)
Washington Athletic Club (can't see it on satellite view, but unknown)
North of Columbia City (hunted, can't spot it, though a neighbor vaguely remembered 'something big on a tower' somewhere in the area. Neighborhood Association's oldest members had never heard of it)

Since Seattle had a whole lot of smaller sirens, Thunderbolts and others, and all have been removed, the Chryslers were probably sold as scrap. One turned up recently in rural Washington and was bought by a siren collector for restoration, but I have no idea which one it was, or if it was definitely a Seattle Chrysler as opposed to an Oregon one; all the Oregon Chryslers have been removed. I'd love to see the Northacres Park siren at least cosmetically restored.
