Jacked up Soundmaster

Thu May 22, 2014 1:19 pm

The was recording by Westy1962. He says this siren has been fixed since this video was made. Sure sounds funny though.

BTW, ignore the youtube "experts" who keep chiming in with the most ridiculous answers.

Almost sounds like it's trying to do yelp by reversing the motor.

At least they fixed it :) instead of replacing it like must town here in Minnesota would do. Only three active sound masters left in Minnesota.

Good lord!!!!!!!!!! That thing is clanking or something... Lol. It also sounded a little sick at the beginning there but then it seemed to catch on. Could it be the bearings or is it just clanking on something due to like a loose rotor?

Yeah, it game me a kick too. -.-

The clanking led many to think alike. What things could make the siren go "Clank" every time?

I remember reading a while back that some soundmasters could do a signal where they would wind up, and then completely switch polarity on the motor to run backwards, stop, and produce a yelping signal.

That sounds like the answer. Only a (specify motor hp here) motor reversing would stop those rotors that quickly without damaging them.

On a side note, it's unusual that the Yelp signal on them ran that way instead of winding up all the way then reversing. I guess then it would be even closer to ACA's products, for which ACA sued them anyway.
