A visit to Charles' (kx250rider) ranch and a blast

Fri Apr 20, 2007 12:49 am

I dropped by kx250rider's place today to see his Thunderbolt and help him with some electrical problem in the rotator. After checking that we had power from the contactor; we opened the rotator box up to check the wiring there and found a wire had slipped out from under a wirenut.
Charles fixed the connection and we had the horn spinning but at first it turned 90 degrees then got stuck pointing at the house. After pushing on the horn, we freed it and got it to turn one 360 revolution on it's own.

We gave it a blast at 15 past noon after alerting the people in the barn in case the horses got spooked. We got some attention from the people in the field down the hill from the house but we heard it wasn't too loud at the barn. It did a great job of shaking the deck where I was standing.

Dangit!!!! I was supposed to visit first!!!!

But glad to hear you got the rotator fixed. (Charles, shame on you... never bothered to check the rotator box. )

Castlevania, there are siren laws almost anywhere (and if there aren't, you'll probably be breaking a noise ordinance). However, as long as you check for dangers beforehand (and warn those who will probably get freaked out) you won't get caught unless a police car happens to drive... uh... onto your deck...

Of course, all sirens, even rotating sirens, produce sound in all directions - that's why Thunderbolts can be heard when they are pointing the other direction (sometimes). So it could probably be heard from the main road (depending on where you live).

EDIT: Nice pics. Which one are you in the last pic? The dog? :P

Now this is motivation!
I just am getting the flames done on my motorcycle, and now I need to work on the truck, and the canoe, and the MG, THEN the Thunderbolt! :P

That Thunderbolt obviously has the 4/5 chopper ratio. Anyone got a picture of the chopper?

It was very loud where we were on the deck but not "ear hurting". You still feel the noise in your chest as well.

Duro, the Vet is the lady in the dark blue shirt on the left. Charles and Kay are in the middle and the girl on the right is Layla (Lie-La) who is the foreign exchange student.

I'm behind the camera since I took the picture but I wonder if any of the pictures they took had me in it.

Fri Apr 20, 2007 5:42 am

Very
cool.........
Speaking of T-Bolts did you find out KX 250 rider Did Huntington
Beach REPLACE all of its T-Bolts :?: , some one wrote in Press Telegram
that Local Governments do not do anything until after a large tragic event , on Wednesday or Thursday
Well he Lives in Huntington Beach so I had to correct him
as to the Fact that H. Beach is one of the FIEW So. Cal cities with a working Siren system TSUNAMI etc.
Now Upgraded ,dont know if my letter gets published ? But I hope I am correct because the only near new Siren I know of is at PCH and Warner an American P-15 perhaps ?
