Hey guys,

I have an ACA siren with a BALDOR industrial motor. Rated single phase at 15 amps. Anyone know how to build a motor starter for this thing? I sent an email to the manufacture but have not got a response....

Thanks for any help...

Matthew

Well, ACA single phase sirens need Capacitors in order to run them. Ask Jeb (holler) for more info on that.

Yeah,

When I got the siren, the person I got this from said I would have to have a run and start capacitor with some special contactor or something in that nature... I really do not remember. Its been sitting in my garage for a few years now. I wish it was more like my Federal 2T22 so that I did not need anything special for it to run...

Post some pics of it! ACA is long gone and American Signal isn't too much help based on my past experiences.

Yep you will need start and run capacitors, two contactors, and a potential relay. I suggest contacting Baldor so you can get the capacitor values and potential relay specs. I know the baldor motors used 4 start caps and 2 runs, but I'm not sure of the sizes.
